Summer Camps
Want to learn to kayak, canoe, stand-up paddle, and row in Austin this summer? Texas Rowing Center offers weekly water sports camps throughout the summer for elementary, middle, and high school students on beautiful Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas. We invite you to come down and join the fun!
What to Bring
Elementary School Camps
$295 / week
Elementary School Camps are for kids in grades 2 through 5 and focus on having fun and watersport adventures. The elementary school camps run from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. Campers will enjoy kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddling, swimming, and arts & crafts. Campers will experience adventures on Lady Bird Lake, in the surrounding park, Deep Eddy Pool, and at the Austin Nature Center. Fun is guaranteed! This is a one-week camp that takes place each week throughout the summer with a new camp starting each Monday. There will be no camp on July 4th.
Middle School Camps
$425 / week
Middle School Camps are for kids in grades 6 through 8 and focus on rowing in the mornings; and kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddling, hiking, and swimming in the afternoons. The middle school camps run from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. These active camps are geared toward water fun, learning, and adventure for all participants. This is a one-week camp that takes place each week throughout the summer with a new camp starting each Monday. There will be no camp on July 4th.
High School Camps
$275 / week
High School Camps are for kids in grades 9 through 12 and focus on introducing the sport of rowing and developing rowing skills. The high school camps run from 9:00AM to noon. Participants who have never rowed will be taught basic rowing skills through our "Introduction to Rowing" Course. Experienced rowers will improve their skills. Graduates are encouraged to continue rowing with us in our after-school Juniors Programs.

How many people can fit into a canoe?Canoes accommodate up to three adults or two adults and two children.

Can I fit extra belongings in my canoe?Canoes are our most spacious rental boats providing room for extra belongings and even pets! Feel free to bring shoes, clothing, sunscreen, coolers in your canoe.

Are kids and/or dogs allowed in canoes?Dogs under 50 lbs are welcome to come with you in your canoe! We offer doggy and child life jackets. To read the latest on the Lady Bird Lake water safety for your pup, visit https://www.austintexas.gov/page/algae.

Do I need a reservation to rent a canoe on Lady Bird Lake?Nope! We rent on a first-come, first-served basis. We have a massive fleet of boats to ensure that you can get right onto the water. Reservations are only required for our special Austin events – Latino Moonlight Serenades and July 4th Fireworks.

What should I wear to canoe in Austin?We suggest wearing any clothing that you don’t mind getting wet! The most popular clothing is bathing suits or athletic gear.
